>>DE LA RIVA, DO JEREZ-XERS-SHERRY-MANZANILLA DE SANLÚCAR DE BARRAMEDA

NEW

“Ramiro Ibáñez (Bodegas Cota 45) and Willy Pérez are at the vanguard of the current revolution in sherry. Their shared wine making philosophy values ‘place’ over ‘process’ and in coming together to revive the historic M Antonio De la Riva brand, they are releasing some of the most exciting wines in El Marco de Jerez today. Although the project is still in its infancy, the initial tranche of wines includes an excellent fino and a range of superb, very old, oxidative and sweet wines. Their flagship however is the youthful unfortified white wine from the Pago Macharnudo, one of Jerez’s most well regarded terroirs. De La Riva is a winery with the potential to realise and revitalise Jerez’s reputation for producing world class wines.“

Paddy Murphy, Sherry educator

>>COTA 45, SANLÚCAR DE BARRAMEDA

We are continuing our love affair with Sanlúcar de Barrameda and we are adding another winery to our portfolio... Cota 45 is the winery of Ramiro Ibanez, as he considers the good Sherry vineyards are located at more than 45 meters altitude. We have visited him several times and every visit has been a learning curve of the wines from Jerez and Sanlucar.

Ibáñez is one of the brightest young winemakers who is revolutionizing the wines of Jerez. Besides his own project, he consults for a number of new wineries like La Callejuela. These are unfortified Palominos showing the different types of Albariza soil and the uniqueness of the different “Pagos”.

We believe that this is one of the most exciting wine projects in the whole of Spain!

DELGADO ZULETA

We were back in Sanlúcar in autumn 2016 and after we spent a day with the Blanco brothers and tasted “most” of their Soleras, we knew it was just a matter of time before we bring their wines into Ireland.Callejuela was founded by Francisco Blanco Martinez. He started by producing mosto, which he sold to other bodegas as an almacenista. Little by little he kept buying vineyards in some of the best pagos.

Today, his sons Francisco and Jose Blanco are in charge. They own 28 hectares between Sanlúcar, Jerez and El Puerto, mainly in the pagos of Macharnudo and Añina (Jerez), as well as El Hornillo and La Callejuela (Sanlúcar). In 2005 they bottled their first Manzanillas. Beforehand, everything was sold to other wineries. In 2015 they created their new image and for the first time presented a range of very special wines; La Casilla, El Cerro and Blanquito.
