Chateau Viaud Lalande is a small-scale venture of the Durand – Teyssier family who have been making wine in the village of Puisseguin, appellation of Lalande de Pomerol, for three generations.

1.5 hectares of vineyards adjoining the Chateau were planted by Philippe Durand – Teyssier back in the 60’s. Typically for the region, those are mostly Merlot and Cabernet Franc well suited to the local, clay dominated soils.

Since 2007 Philippe has handed over the wine making and day-to-day running of the property to his son Thomas. Having previously worked in prominent 1er and Grand Cru Classé estates in Saint Emilion (Château Belair, Château Cadet Bon), Thomas is continuing family tradition, with clear focus on quality. Annual production: 9000 bottles.

Chateau Saransot Dupre
>>CHÂTEAU SARANSOT DUPRE, AOC BORDEAUX, Cru Burgeois Superieur

Domaine de Saransot is located in the commune of Listrac, on the left bankof the Gironde estuary. Clay-Limestone soils of this area, resemble those found in Saint Emilion and are ideally suited to cultivation of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The fruitiness and round tannins of those grapes, contribute to the great elegance of the Saransot-Dupre wines. The Cabernet- Sauvignon and the Petit Verdot (together 24%) give the wine its long life. To obtain concentrated wines, harvests must be small. That is why no fertilizers are used. Moreover, some plots are seeded with grass. It matures in oak barrels, approximately 30% of which are renewed each year. The wine is bottled eighteen months after the harvest.

Chateau Godard
>>CHÂTEAU GODARD, BORDEAUX, biodynamic

Châteaux Godard in Francs belong to Cairine’s family since 1895. Her father took care of those ideally located vineyards until 1998. That is when Cairine’s husband Franck, decided to give up his career in IT and like his grandfather and generations before him, become a vine grower. Cairine and Franc have been guided by Cairine’s dad until 2002, which marks the last year when the production of their wine relied on the local cooperative. From then on, the wine is estate bottled and they represent the fourth generation of their family cultivating this land. Since 1998 twenty three hectares of their vineyards were sustainably farmed, and the organic farming which followed, was just a matter of time. 2010 was their first, certified organic vintage. But they did not stop there. Since 2016 they also follow the biodynamic principles.

>>CHÂTEAU BÉARD LA CHAPELLE, AOC SAINT EMILION, Gran Cru

Most recent addition to our Bordeaux range comes from the estate located in the village of Saint Laurent-des-Combes, at the Eastern edge of Saint Emilion Grand Cru. The property remained in the hands of one owner for well over century and is currently run by Franck and Laurence, brother and sister who represent the ninth generation of the Moureau family. It was their father – Richard Moureau, who in the 1980´s modernised the estate, building the new winery adjacent to the plot called “Béard”, the site of an ancient chapel.  Franck, who oversees the winemaking, as well as looking after the vineyards, took over this 18-hectare property from his father in 2006. His vines are mostly planted on clay and limestone rich soils, typical for the best parts of the Saint Emillion Grand Cru. With quality in mind, Franck works with relatively low yields (49 hl/ha), planting his vines to higher density than required by the appellation law. Following the “lute raisonée” approach, he is working the vineyards as naturally as possible, using cover crops to eliminate excess of water, balance the vigour of the vines and encourage biodiversity in the soil. Green harvest and “leaf stripping” are both practiced to ensure the optimal ripeness. The grapes are sorted both in the vineyard and the winery, where after destemming the juice is gently extracted by the pneumatic presses. The wines are vinified in traditional Bordelaise way with frequent gentle pumping over and racking between the combination of new and used French oak barrels. The outcome always reflects the quality and character of the given vintage, yet it is possible to say that Merlot dominated wines of Béard La Chapelle always show certain elegance and balance between the supple, violet scented blackberry fruit and refined spice.
