Terroir al Limit has started in 2001 as a small-scale project, realisation of a dream shared by two friends: Eben Sadie from South Africa and Dominik Huber from Germany. In the 16 years that have passed since, it has evolved into the most inspirational and exciting winemaking venture in this part of Spain.
While Eben decided to return to his native Sputh Africa, Dominik Huber continues his exploration of Priorat, the region with fascinating history, simple yet flavoursome food and wines which are among the most authentic in Europe.
With Burgundy as a paradigm, Dominic is trying to express specific vineyard sites, working the land in the most traditional way. The fermentation is done with the inclusion of stems and the wood is used sparingly. The resulting wines stand out among others for their extraordinary freshness, purity of flavour and genuine appeal.
In 2015 two new wines have been added to the Terroir’s selection. This new side-project, named Terroir Històric, is aiming to re-create the Priorat style predating the era of commercialisation, which has been a point of reference for Dominik ever since he had the chance to taste the wines from the 70ties. Curiously, half of the production of Terroir Històric is white.
